L'année 2014 marque le trente-cinquième anniversaire de l'Association internationale des maires francophones, créée en 1979 à l'initiative conjointe des maires de Paris et de Québec, messieurs Jacques Chirac et Jean Pelletier. À cette occasion, la Ville de Québec rend hommage à celui qui fut maire de Québec de 1977 à 1989.
Plusieurs réalisations jalonnent le passage de Jean Pelletier (1935-2009) à la mairie, notamment la création au centre-ville de la bibliothèque Gabrielle-Roy, en 1983. On lui doit aussi l'ouverture de la gare intermodale en 1985 et la revialisation du tout le secteur de la gare du Palais. C'est également grâce à la vision et aux efforts du maire Pelletier que le Vieux-Québec est inscrit sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial de l'Unesco, une reconnaissance internationale de la valeur exceptionnelle de cet ensemble urbain.

The year 2014 marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of the International Association of Francophone Mayors, created in 1979 at the joint initiative of the mayors of Paris and Quebec, Jacques Chirac and Jean Pelletier. On this occasion, the City of Quebec pays tribute to the mayor of Quebec from 1977 to 1989.
Several accomplishments mark the passage of Jean Pelletier (1935-2009) as mayor, including the creation in downtown of the Gabrielle-Roy library



in 1983; also the opening of the intermodal station in 1985 and the revitalization of the area around the Palais railroad station. It is also thanks to the vision and efforts of Mayor Pelletier that Old Quebec is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, an international recognition of the exceptional value of this urban district.
