— French Gulch, CA. Founded, May 16, 1868 —
Officers of the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge, chartered 1858, commissioned the construction of a private and public cemetery in August, 1866. The public section opened May 16, 1868, with the lodge members interred thereafter as their deaths occurred. Many of the town's founders and early lodge members are buried within these fences. Dr. Plumb, one of the town's first doctors is buried here with his wife Catherine. This cemetery is filled with early pioneers and veterans from W.W.1 to Vietnam.HM Number | HM1O9V |
