1738-1988Established November 1, 1738 by an act of the General Assembly, Augusta County extended from the Blue Ridge Mountains on the east to the Mississippi River on the west and from the southern boundary of the Colony north to "the utmost limits of Virginia" in the vicinity of the Great Lakes.
