The 69th Regiment Ohio Infantry
Lieutenant Colonel
Joseph H. Brigham, Commanding


Temporarily attached to Colonel Daniel McCook's Brigade, bivouacked the night of September 18th, 1863, near this place, which it reached at dark; and before daylight on the 19th, by order of the Brigade commander, the Regiment surprised the enemy on guard at Reed's Bridge, charging across, and setting the Bridge on fire.

The Regiment was withdrawn and sent under orders to Rossville at 7:00 A.M. on the 19th, with the balance of the Brigade, and was not further engaged during the battle.

On the evening of the 18th, it participated in the capture of 22 prisoners in front of this position.
