Chitimacha Slave Captured by the Natchitoches

Captured in 1708 by French explorer, St. Denis, in a raid on Chitimacha Indian Village in Lafourche Parish. Sold at Mobile to a French officer, Jacques Guedon. They married in 1721 at Los Adaes. Descendants settled the Black Lake Community in 1763. The pioneer families, Perot, Trichel, Pardee, Dortlon, and Desadier still reside in this community.
