E.A. King's Brigade, Reynolds Division, Thomas' Corps.
September 19th, 1863, 4 p.m..

About 3 p.m. King's Brigade having been sent forward, the battery came into position on this ground. About 3:30 p.m. it fired spherical case over the heads of troops of Van Cleve's Division, who were now falling back, and as opportunity offered used canister to good advantage. At 4:15 p.m. the batteries and parts batteries on the right and left having all retired, and receiving a close and destructive fire on the right, the right half battery was ordered to change position so as to meet the fire of the enemy, but in attempting this movement Captain Harris was wounded, and receiving no support from the infantry, the battery fell back toward the road and formed a new line with the loss of one 12 pounder smooth bore gun. Casualties of the day: enlisted men killed 2. wounded 13: missing 2. Horses killed and wounded 15.
