This Division formed the rear of Hood's column and advanced with it from the forest east of the Brotherton House at 11:15 a.m. Soon after entering the Dyer Fields it passed over Hood's Division which had been checked by a charge of Harker's Brigade forced Harker's Brigade to Snodgrass Hill and at 1 p.m. unsuccessfully assaulted the Hill where Harker and others had formed their commands. Several assaults of the most persistent character were made by the Division during the afternoon but without carrying the Union line. Fighting ceased on the front of the Division at sunset the last assault being participated in by Gracie's Brigade of Preston's Division.
