Albert "AB" Nicholas played basketball for the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1949-52 completing his career as the highest scoring guard in Wisconsin history. He was two-time All-Big Ten Conference First Team, an All-American Second Team pick by Look Magazine, and the team's MVP in 1951 and 1952. Nicholas earned his degree in economics in 1952 and his MBA in finance and investment in 1955. He began his career with Northwestern National Insurance Company and later co-founded Nicholas Company, Inc. in 1967 and is currently the Chair and CEO. Nicholas served as a Regent for the University of Wisconsin System, National W Club President, and sat on boards for the Wisconsin School of Business, the UW Foundation and UW Athletics. Nicholas has generously donated millions of dollars to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Over the years the University has recognized Nicholas for his undying support by honoring him as a Distinguished Business Alumnus of the School of Business in 1985, presenting him with the Wisconsin Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1993, and naming him to the University of Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994.
