Marshal & Fox, architects

— 1910 —

An outstanding example of Modern French style of Beaux-Arts Classical architecture. As one of the city's earliest luxury hotels, it became the "Hotel of Presidents," serving as host to a dozen U.S. Presidents, including Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy. It was named for railroad magnate Timothy Blackstone, whose mansion formerly stood on the site.
