Born in Simsbury, Connecticut, co-founder of the Yale School of Forestry, first chief of
the U.S. Forestry Service, Conservation Advisor to President Theodore Roosevelt,
Governor of Pennsylvania.
Re-dedicated in 1978
as a gift to the town of Simsbury by Charles Schnier
