Först i samband med uppförandet av riksdagshuset och riksbanken kom den länge diskuterade bron till stånd. 1907 byggdes en gångbro av stål med fackverksbalkar, av folkhumorn döpt till "Råttfällan". Dagens smäckra betongbro från 1931 ritades av Ragnar Östberg med K.A. Wickert som konstruktör. De eleganta gatlyktorna är från denna tid. Brovalvet bildas av två halvor som balanseras av motvikter inne i brofästena.


The bridge replaces a steel footbridge from 1907. The stylish arch of the roadway consists of two concrete cantilevers. The design was by Ragnar Ostberg and the structural engineer was K. A. Wickert. The elegant lamps date from the same period.
