Mount Zion Methodist Church was organized in 1832. The grandparents of Samuel Cole Williams, jurist and historian, were among the prominent citizens of Medina, Humboldt, and Old South Gibson who were buried here. Slaves were buried in the northeast corner of the cemetery.
