Born in Rochester June 2, 1860 to Joseph R. and Matilda Cross Pendleton. United States Navy Academy 1878. He fired last shot in Spanish American War. Camp Pendleton California named in his honor. Died February 4, 1942. Buried at National Cemetery Coronado, California.
