New Britain UNICO honors Frederick "Doc" Mirliani, an American of Italian heritage, for his contributions to the City of New Britain.
"Doc," who wrote the New Britain High School Alma Mater, directed the high school band, chorus, and orchestra from 1935 to 1948. He was the mentor for elementary and middle school music directors throughout the city of New Britain. "Doc's" work laid a foundation for the extensivemusic programs our students enjoy today.
