This regiment arrived on the battlefield at 10 a.m, April 7th, 1862. Was ordered to the front by Major General Grant. It formed on this line about 12 m., when the regiment repulsed an assault by the enemy. During the day this regiment made several charges upon the enemy, driving him back. Casualties; Killed 2 officers and 8 men; wounded 4 officers and 82 men; total, 96.
