Inscription
Named for George and Hardy Draughon, brothers who came from Edgecombe County about 1795, and purchased land joining both roads. George lived near this spot. Later he moved to 9/10 mile beyond Beamon's Cross Roads, Hwy. No. 421, died and was buried there in 1866, age 94. Two sons Gary and James lived here from marriage until death 1850-1854. Hardy lived one mile south at next cross roads, died and buried there in 1841, age 74.
