Circa 1810

The Marshlands House was built byJohn Ball on his Cooper River riceplantation. In 1901 Marshlands was sold to the U,S. Navy for the shipyard.Threatened with demolition, the home wasbarged to its present location in 1961.
The Federalist style house is anexceptional example of AntebellumArchitecture and is best known for itsinterior wood gougework ornamentation.
In 1973 the Marshlands House was listedon the National Register of HistoricalPlaces and is maintained as one of ourcultural resources.
