"Zumbi" (a Felicidade Guerreira)
Letra de Waly Salomâo & música de Gilberto Gil (par o filme Quilombo) 1983

Zumbi, comandante guerreiro
Ogunhê, ferreiro-mor capitão
Da capitania da minha cabeça
Mandai a alforria pro meu coração

Minha espada espalha o sol da guerra
Rompe mato, varre céus e terra
A felicidade do negro é uma felicidade guerreira
Do maracatu, do maculelê e do moleque bamba

Minha espada espalha o sol da guerra
Meu Quilombo incandescendo a serra
Tal e qual o leque, o sapateado do mestre - escola de samba
Tombo - de - ladeira, rabo - de - arraia, fogo - de - liamba...

A felicidade do negro é uma felicidade guerreira

English translation:
"Zumbi" (The Warrior Song)
Words by Waly Salomâo and music by Gilberto Gil (from the film "Quilombo", 1983) ...

Zumbi, war commander
Ogunhê, blacksmith captain
Of the captainship of my head
Send the emancipation through my heart

My swords spreads the daylight of war
It breaks weed, sweeps the heavens and earth
The happiness of black is the happiness of a warrior
Of the maracatu, the maculelê and the moleque bamba

My swords spreads the daylight of war
My village (runaway colony) lights the horizon
Together with the fan, a tap dance from the master-school of samba
Tombo-de-ladeira, rabo-de-arraia, fogo-de-liamba

The happiness of black is the happiness of a warrior!
