The Euphradian Society Hall, established in 1806, moved into an elegant new hall on the third floor of Harper College in 1848. The hall resounded with orations and debates for over one hundred and thirty years, until the Society became inactive in 1979. One of the Euphradian Society's most illustrious alumni was Lawrence Marion Gressette (1902-1984, class of 1924), who served as secretary and vice-president of the society. Gressette went on to distinguish himself both in private law practice and as a member for over fifty years of the South Carolina General Assembly.
