This Baptist congregation, originallyknown as Savannah River, CarolinaChurch, was constituted near hereMarch 1, 1775, mainly by members ofCoosawhatchie (Beech Branch )Church. Rev. Joshua Lewis was itsfirst known minister. In 1786, thechurch changed its name to PipeCreek and by 1836 moved to Lawtonville. Renamed Lawtonville in 1884, church moved to Estill, 1911.
