(Inscription in the lower right) The Philadelphia Campaign was so-named since the city was the British destination when they sailed from New York, landing 17,000 troops near Elkton, Maryland. Colonial sharpshooters engaged the British in a delaying action at the Battle of Cooch's Bridge September 3, 1777.
