Doug Melvin was the eighth general manager in franchise history. During his tenure as GM of the Brewers (2003-15), Melvin's teams had 1,024 regular-season wins and two postseason births, including the 2011 National League Central Division Championship. Was named 2011 Major League Executive of the Year by Baseball America after the team won a franchise-record 96 games on the way to its first Division Title since 1982. In 2008, he helped bring the franchise its first postseason berth in 26 years as the team finished 90-72 to capture the NL Wild Card. Key to the 2008 postseason run was Melvin's midseason acquisition of pitcher CC Sabathia from Cleveland, which will go down as one of the biggest trades in club history.
