This Brigade was the left of Baird's Division. It reached this position between 9 and 10 a.m. and relieved Croxton's Brigade of Brannan's Division. While in the act of forming a new line at right angles with the first it was struck in the flank by Govan's and Walthall's Brigades of Liddell's Division and forced to its left and rear over VanDerveer's Brigade of Brannan's Division, with the loss of its battery, and a large number of officers and men captured.

The Brigade was rallied in the rear of VanDerveer's line, and was later formed to the left of it at the moment of Forrest's final assault at 1 p.m. Its battery was

recaptured by the 9th Ohio of VanDerveer's Brigade. The Brigade then rejoined its Division at the glade east of McDonald's house, and bivouacked there.
