On Nov. 28, 1863, after escaping
from Ohio Penitentiary & taking a
train to Cincinnati, CSA Gen. John
Hunt Morgan & Capt. Thomas Hines
crossed the Ohio River to Ludlow.
Sympathetic Boone County residents,
as well as Big Bone Baptist Church,
gave them food, shelter & supplies.
They rode into Gallatin County the
following night.

This map shows the route taken by Gen. Morgan and Capt. Hines from North to South through Boone County on Nov. 28 & 29, 1863. Also shown are stops they made along the way.
