Here lived the Winnebagoes who fought on the side of the British in the War of 1812 and joined Black Hawk's Band in 1832.

Prophetstown State Park authorized by the Illinois General Assembly in 1947 was sponsored by Representative George S. Brydia. It has been developed in the administration of Governor William G. Stratton.
