Built in 1819 by Irish immigrants,
who lived along the Susquehanna
River, dug the canals, and piloted
the canal barges. It is the second
oldest Catholic Church in Cecil
County. Since Catholics were not
allowed, at that time, to build
churches in Ireland, this chapel is
a testimonial to religious freedom,
a right guaranteed in the US by
the Bill of Rights.
