Built with funds from steel magnate Andrew Carnegie, the Carnegie Library was designed in 1904 by Canton architect Guy Tilden and opened to the public in 1905.

This magnificent structure served as the Canton Public Library until 1972. Thanks to the generosity of dedication of Louise Timken, the building was renovated in 1982.

It was restored by Allen and Christine Schulman in 2001 and serves as the law offices of Allen Schulman & Associates.

In 1982 the National Park Service entered the building in the Nation Register of Historic Places.
