Museo Histórico de la Sierra GordaEste recinto fue construido en 1576 por órdenes del Virrey Martín Enríquez de Almanza, por lo que es uno de los edificios más antiguos de Jalpan. Funcionó como cárcel por más de 50 años y posteriormente como fuerte militar. En 1991 se fundó el Museo Histórico de la Sierra Gorda, que muestra la herencia artística, cultural e histórica de esta zona. Las ocho salas de exhibición narran la riqueza y diversidad de la huasteca queretana. Una de ellas está dedicada a la Reserva de la Biosfera y funciona como sala interactiva. Otra, a la importancia de la misiones franciscanas. Las demás
exhiben piezas desde el periodo prehispánico hasta la Reforma, incluyendo la conquista y otros movimientos históricos. Además, se encuentran diversos grabados y objetos que despliegan la cultura actual serrana. Las puertas del museo están abiertas de martes a domingo de las 10:00 a 15.00 hrs. y de las 17:00 a 19:00 hrs.
English:Sierra Gorda Historical MuseumThis construction was built on 1576 under the rule of the Viceroy Martín Enríquez de Almanza, which makes it one of the oldest buildings in Jalpan. It was used as prison for more than 50 years, and further in time it was a military fortress. On august 1991, the Sierra Gorda Historical Museum was founded,



showing the artistic, historical and cultural inheritance of the area. The eight exhibition rooms show the richness and diversity offered by the Sierra Gorda. One of them is dedicated to the Sierra Gorda's Biosphere Reserve and works as an interactive room; another one shows the importance of the Franciscan Missions. All the others exhibit pieces from the prehistoric period up to Reformation, including México's conquest and other historic movements. Also
there are diverse engravings and objects displaying the current Sierra culture. Museum doors open from Tuesday till Sunday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
