CCMSgt Bill Forbus, USAF (Retired) was stationed at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base from 1990-1992. Chief Forbus served as the Personnel Superintendent, 354th Combat Support Group, and later became Executive Officer to the Commander of the 354th Combat Support Group.
Chief Forbus retired from the Air Force in 1994 after 27 years of distinguished service. During his military career he worked in administration, information management, and intelligence. Notable assignments include the US Defense Attaché Office (USDAO) American Embassy in Bonn, Germany followed by USDAO American Embassy in Canberra, AUstralia. After his Myrtle Beach assignment Chief fourbus was selected as selected as Wing Senior Enlisted Advisor (Command Chief) 51st Fighter Wing, Osan AB, Korea. He then retired from Shaw AFB, SC having served as the Superintendent of Administration, 20th Combat Support Group.
Chief Forbus is a graduate of Airman Leadership School, the NCO Academy, and the US Air Force Senior NCO Academy. He also has an Associate Degree in Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree (summa cum laude) in Resources Management.
Post USAF retirement, Chief Forbus was employed as a Production Supervisor and finally as a Personnel Specialist with AVX Corporation for seven years. He then
accepted the position as Aerospace Science Instructor in the AFJROTC program at Socastee High School. Under his leadership, the Unit won the Distinguished Unit Award (3 with merit) all 12 years of his tenure. Chief Forbus retired from Horry County Schools in June 2014.
