Ancient Mounds Trail

The mound here is a reconstruction
of the larger of 2 burial mounds
that archaeologists completely
excavated in 1938. The large mound
was 21 feet tall and dome shaped.
A smaller mound was 100 feet south
of the large one. It was 2 feet tall
and rectangular. Indians built these
cemetery mounds between
