Hacienda of the Cañada de Ortega Sanctuary(Hacienda Santuario Cañada de Ortega)
Architectural piece built between the 18th and 19th centuries to the south of Rio Ortega. The building was used to carry out spiritual retreats and other religious activities. It was very popular for some time, but then slowly declined due to a change of routes. Therefore, it was no longer a reference point for pilgrims and priests, who totally abandoned it. Furthermore, heavy rainfall and frequent floods caused severe havoc to the property. To make matters worse, the hacienda was taken by revolutionary troops to convert it into barracks, which they eventually set on fire. Subsequently, the cristeros occupied the building causing more damage, except in the temples.Nonetheless, the building of the antigua Hacienda Santuario Cañada de Ortega still preserves important remains from that glorious past, such as: Templo del Señor del Buen Morir, where the Christ of the same name is venerated,

especially on January 6, and Templo del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, which was never fully built. Similarly, at the same site, the remains of a "tienda de raya", an old grinder, and a courtyard arcade, can still be visited. Nowadays, the place has been restored to feature as an important tourist attraction in Salamanca. It has a craft shop where items made of wax, baskets, papier maché and paintings can be purchased. Around this site, there are several activities available: rappel, zip line, horse riding, biking and camping.
