An art- and theater critic of Hungarian origin, as well as an essayist for the Newspaper Pester Lloyd, Hevesi lived in this building between 1875 and 1910.

He was one of the most influential advocates and chronicler of the Vienna Secession. The saying "To every age its art, to every art its freedom" comes from him.
