Baker City Historic District

—Established 1874 —

In 1900, after a fire had destroyed a former wood frame hall, the Baker City Masonic Lodge erected a new brick temple.
The lodge hall occupied the second floor. The first floor originally was leased to the E.P. Voruz & Co. Home Furnishing Store and Jones' John Deere Implement Store. The floor had to be reinforced to bear the weight of the farm equipment.
After years of "modernization" changes to the building, including the bricking-in of most windows, in 1983 the storefront was rehabilitated to replicate its historic appearance.
