Deshler's Brigade formed on this ground as the left of Cleburne's Division soon after sunset. September 19th, with Wood's Brigade on its right. It moved forward in the direction of the Winfrey house. At dusk, supported by Preston Smith's Brigade of Cheatham's Division. It attacked the front of Johnson's Division and became involved in a desperate night fight.
