1794-1994

Organized on April 20, 1794, the first Baptist congregation in Johnson County was known as the Roan Creek Church of Christ. Originally located near Shouns, the church sponsored by the congregation of the Three Forks Baptist Church in Watauga County, North Carolina. In 1843 the church moved to the present site. By 1950, it had become known as the First Baptist Church of Mountain City.
