Inscription
Between 1856 0 1866, a Clerks' Office was built for the circuit and county clerks on the west end of the square and remains on that site today. the second courthouse, a single-story, brick building was completed in 1867 and was located on the east end of the square.

In 1908 a rear addition and a second store were added, and the clock tower was completed in 1910.

In 1965 the Third Courthouse, a contemporary building, was constructed.
