November 25, 1863.


In the advance of the Brigade on the Orchard Knob line, November 23, the 93d with the 41st Ohio suffered the heaviest loss, the former losing 11 killed and 48 wounded, Major Birch in command being mortaly wounded. In the assault on Missionary Ridge Captain Bowman, then commanding, was wounded in the enemy's earthworks at the foot.

The Regiment reached the crest about this point, capturing a regimental flag. Casualties: killed, 1 officer, 15 men; wounded, 4 officers, 61 men; total 81.
