Inscription
Acadian exiles arrived from Maryland in 1767 and were given Spanish land grants as was the church. The church was built by Louis LeConte a builder from Lafourche between November 1774 and July 1776 aided by the settlers. The Acadians brought and maintained their church records from St. Charles Aux Mines, Parish, Acadia.
