Inscription
Built around 1799 of native limestone rock by Alexander Outlaw for his son-in-law Joseph Hamilton and his wife Penelope, original settlers in Bend of the Chucky in 1783. Hamilton served for many years as court clerk of Jefferson county and was a trustee of Washington College and Greeneville College (now Tusculum College).
