The Post Exchange, or PX, was built in 1910 to be a "one stop shopping place" for soldiers at Fort McDowell. Soldiers purchased clothing toiletries, and other supplies here. The PX also offered a restaurant, soda fountain, barbershop, taproom (with beer on tap) and, during WW I, a bowling alley and gymnasium.
