Best known as the co-pilot of the famous B-17The Memphis Belle, immortalized in William Wylers'documentary film "Memphis Belle" in 1943. In 1990Warner Bros. in Hollywood made a full length moviealso called "Memphis Belle".

James Verinis flew as pilot of his own plane, "TheConnecticut Yankee", for 20 missions. He was in the 1st raid over Germany on January 27, 1943. He wasthe first pilot or crewman to complete 25 missionsover Germany and France.

He flew his final mission on May 13th, 1943.
