This mural depicts Oildale around 1899, from the bridge to the surrounding oil derricks on the hills.

Oildale was called "Waits" during the oil boom.

To your right is Waits Train Station, on Norris Rd.

Several business sprang up, and eventually a church and subdivisions filled this active oil area.
