English:House of Mr. Andrés Quintana RooAn understated 18th century mansion whose historical value lies in the legend that Mr. Andres Quintana Roo was born here in 1787. Mr. Quintana Roo was an important participant in Mexican Insurgency, a legal adviser, ambassador, representative, journalist, poet, and the husband of great
revolutionary collaborator, Leona Vicario. Quintana Roo was born in Mérida on November 30, 1787 and was the son of Mr. José Matias Quintana and Mrs. María Ana de Roo y Rodriguez de la Gala. His father and brother Tomas Domingo participated in politics. Researcher Ignacio Rubio Mañé writes that the parents of the famous rebel, Mr. José Matias Quintana and his wife lived in the house located on the northeastern corner of the crossing of Calles 62 and 59 and that is likely there where Don Andres was born. In the time of the historian it was assigned number 511 but today the numbering has changed.
