The First Presbyterian Church on Water Street in Lebanon, KY was built in the same year 1857. The construction of this church was started in 1854. This was known as the 5th church building. On July 5th, 1863, this church looked like the photo of it to the right, labeled #1, but before the day was done, the church had been blown apart by Gen. John Hunt Morgan. His cannon fire from the north part of town was hitting the church spires and roof. The cannon fire was falling short of it's target, the L&N Depot.

It was said after the war was over that the damage done to the church was about $5,300.00. The church asked the U.S. government to help pay for damage done to the building during the war, but they got nowhere with the letter they sent. So the building got repaired with the small amount of money they had. The building looked like photo #2 until it was torn down in 1935.
