Log Roll Overlook offers the hiker an enjoyable westward view of the Town Creek watershed and a view of three states. The overlook was named for logs that were rolled down the steep mountain slope in the late 1800s, to a sawmill on Town Creek. Sections of Log Roll Trail follow the bed of a narrow-gauge logging railroad in operation at that time.
Log Roll Trail ends 4.5 miles from the overlook, near Town Creek. A 20-mile hike eastward along the Canal will take the hiker through the Paw Paw Tunnel and back to the Green Ridge Long Pond Trail at Lock 58.
