Lenni Lenape Indians (Original People) inhabited Verona in colonial times. Area settlers traded with and learned much from these Native Americans who granted land deeds in return for needed supplies. One such trail crossed Bloomfield Avenue nearby and was used for trading with the Colonials. Many Lenni Lenape artifacts were found in this area of Verona.
