Methodist Bishop FrancisAsbury's many visits toKingston (Conway) between1785 and 1815 preceded the organization of a Methodist congregation here. Land wasobtained in 1842 and thefirst church building wasconstructed here in 1844.Still standing are the 1898gothic-style and the 1910mission-style buildings, Thechurch was renamed First Methodist in 1958 and thecurrent Georgian sanctuarywas completed in 1961.
