In 1835 St. Bartholomew Lutheran Churchmoved here from about 1 mi. south andchanged its name to Mt. Pleasant.It is generally accepted that this congregation was organized ca. 1750and that John George Bambergpreached there shortly after 1798.In 1873 the S.C. Lutheran Synod metat Mt. Pleasant in a new building since incorporated into the presentstructure.
