Erected by the Nursing Staff in honour of the patients who died in the King George Hospital HM Stationery Offices Stamford Street used as a military hospital during the war
( inscribed around the top of the column )
Greater love hath no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends
Eternal rest grant to them O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon them

The names of those who died in the King George hospital are inscribed on a parchment roll placed within the church records
The names of those who were parishoners of St Johns Church are inscribed on the three remaining panels of this memorial
