Corporal John M. Dawson, lifelong resident of Whitinsville, was killed in action while on a patrol in Jalalabad, Afghanistan on April 8, 2015. He served as a combat medic assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.
